GEO — Generative Engine Optimization

Run a GEO audit and measure your AI visibility

From Google to generative engines, visibility is moving to new ground. GEO measures, explains and grows your brand’s presence in the answers of ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Copilot.

Context

Search changed faster than digital strategies did

Three dated facts from the European market that move the question from "should we look into this" to "where do we stand".

−23.1%

drop in click-through rate on the domains most exposed to AI Overviews, one month after their French rollout. Panel median: −5.7% CTR, but one site in two loses more than 10% of its daily clicks.

Ahrefs — 963 French domains, 28 days before / 9 days after 22 July 2026. Published 17 August 2026.

19.2%

of ChatGPT conversations carry commercial intent, up from 13.9% a year earlier. That is roughly 533 million commercial conversations per week — and up to 59% of volume in the automotive sector.

Profound — 7.5 M en-US conversations, June 2025 → June 2026.

It is live 🚀

ChatGPT Ads is available across 31 European markets, France included. Access currently runs through six partner groups; the self-service Ads Manager is not open yet.

OpenAI — announced 18 August 2026, live 24 August 2026.

Two complementary routes to visibility inside AI: being cited organically (GEO) and buying traffic (Ads). The strongest strategy combines both — which first requires knowing where you stand today.

Services

A two-stage GEO engagement

An audit to measure your visibility, then a roadmap for continuous optimisation.

Scoping

A standalone audit, no commitment

The entry point: measure before deciding.

AI search position monitoring

  • Brand presence tracking across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Copilot
  • Detection of the prompts that do — or do not — trigger a citation
  • Continuously updated tracking dashboard

GEO visibility audit

  • Full diagnosis: citation rate, sentiment, sources the engines cite
  • Competitive benchmark across your query universe
  • Prioritised deliverable: quick wins on one side, structural work on the other
RUN

Ongoing GEO engagement

A dedicated phase to put a precise roadmap in place and optimise continuously.

Content gap & recommendations

  • Identifying the queries where competitors are cited and you are not
  • Actionable content recommendations, ranked by effort and impact
  • Monthly or quarterly follow-up

ChatGPT Ads support

  • Strategic scoping of commercial-intent queries
Phase 1 — Ready for Ads · available

Technical readiness audit: assets required by the API, account structure, target query universe.

Phase 2 — Campaign management · at self-service launch

Setup, budget steering, reporting cross-referenced with GEO data.

The visibility audit is what makes an action plan possible. The RUN phase puts that plan into practice and grows your visibility.

Scoping

3 steps
  1. 1

    Scoping workshop

Query universe, competitors to track, platforms to cover, and a working definition of what counts as a useful citation.

  2. 2

    GEO visibility audit

Systematic querying of generative engines, measuring citation rate, sentiment and the sources they draw on.

  3. 3

    Prioritised recommendations

Content gap and technical action plan, sequenced by effort and expected impact.

Run

2 steps
  1. 4

    Implementation

Hands-on execution support: content production and restructuring, campaign preparation then steering.

  2. 5

    Continuous tracking

Regular reporting on GEO metrics, query universe adjustments, budget arbitrage.

Frequently asked

What people ask before starting

01 Why does my brand need to be visible in AI answers?

A growing share of searches no longer ends in a list of links but in a generated answer — synthesised from sources the engine selects and cites, or does not. If your brand is not identified as a reliable source in your field, it is simply absent from the recommendation, even when it ranks well on Google. This is a commercial touchpoint that already exists, with or without you.

02 What is the difference between Google visibility and AI visibility?

SEO optimises ranking within a list of clickable results. GEO optimises the probability of being cited, summarised or recommended inside a generated answer — with no click, no results page, and often no visible competition. The levers partly overlap (authority, content structure, verifiable factual data), but the selection criteria and the tracking metrics differ.

03 How do I find out whether my company is already visible in ChatGPT, Gemini or Perplexity?

That is what monitoring and the visibility audit are for: querying generative engines on the queries that matter in your sector, then measuring your citation rate, your position relative to the competitors that are cited, and the sources they use to describe you — or not. Without that measurement, AI visibility is only a hypothesis.

04 How is the impact of a GEO strategy measured?

On specific indicators: citation rate per platform, share of voice against competitors, sentiment attached to the brand in answers, and the evolution of traffic coming from generative engines in your analytics. These are distinct from classic SEO metrics, and they are tracked over time rather than as a snapshot.

05 Can GEO really generate traffic and leads?

Yes, though mostly indirectly. A citation in an AI answer rarely produces an immediate click; it establishes brand presence at the moment of the purchase decision, with a measurable effect on aided awareness and, downstream, on branded conversions. The Ads channel (option, phase 2) adds paid visibility that is more directly traceable.

06 How long does it take to see results?

The audit and monitoring give a usable picture within the first few weeks. Content gap work has a progressive effect, comparable to SEO: the first citation signals typically appear over a 2 to 3 month horizon, consolidating from there.

07 How do we start, and what budget should we plan for?

The entry point is the visibility audit, available standalone with no commitment. Budget then depends on the scope: sector, number of platforms tracked, monitoring frequency, and whether the content gap and Ads options are included. Every engagement is scoped individually during a first call.
